    Witch not Wiccan

    March 22nd, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Information |

    There is alot of confusion in the general public with those who are either new or unfamiliar with witchcraft or wicca. Would you believe the majorty of the public believe this is the same thing? I can’t tell you how often I get asked “Are you Wiccan?” to where I simply say “No, I’m a Witch” and wait for the dumbfounded look.  The simple break down is this. Witchcraft is a way of life, when you are a witch, you practice witchcraft, it is your “craft”. When you belong to a religious movement that typically follow a god/goddess, this is Wicca.

    Witchcraft = Craft

    Wicca = Religion

    Lets go further. Do you know where the term “Witchcraft” came from? Back in the days of masonry believe it or not, you had a craft. You were a mason, builder, carpenter, healer, apothocary, shaman etc etc, when someone would ask you “Which Craft are you?” You would of course be one of the fore mentioned. Over time when freemasonry came about, and they became a secret society, this lead to alot of people believing they were witches, or malevolent people. Because of course, if you are practicing something in private that no one understands, it obviously evil and malevolent in nature. Mason = Craft - somewhere along the line - Witchcraft. However, thats a whole other tangent for another time.
     So are all Wiccans, Witches? Again, no not all, however most are. Most Wiccans do practice the craft, however there are some who are content with god/goddess worship with no desire for spellcrafting or tinkering with energies.

    Whats the diffrence between White Magick and Black Magick?

    March 13th, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Articles |

    What’s the difference? Nothing.
    Yes, that’s right,  you heard right, nothing. Before you think I’m feeding the Christian fundamentalist fire, I’m not. If you Christians are thinking “I told you so” ….back up, not so fast.
    The reason why I say nothing is because, technically speaking, magick is neither black nor white. Magick is no different from anything else. Be it money, can be used for good and bad, medicine, good and bad,  education, just about anything you can think of will have both ethical and non-ethical uses. Magick is the same. Now we can say that “I only practice white magick” and this can be taken at face value. Does the person who says they only practice white magick really only practice good? Well let’s look at what entails “good” or “white magic”
    Healing? Sure no one wants to be sick so yeah I would say healing falls under the category of good.
    Protection? Again, protection is a good thing to have, no one wants to be hurt, so that’s another for the good category.
    Courage? Sure
    Love? Well that depends. To help you find your perfect love? I suppose that could be good, but what about a love spell? Say the object of your affection? Someone that you love, that doesn’t necessarily love you back, so you think “I will create a spell for him/her to love me!” Wouldn’t it be better for someone to love you for you and not need a spell to draw them to you? Let me put it another way. You have a friend who is just a friend and you have absolutely no interest in them in any other way. Would it be fair for that person to cast a love spell on you to fall in love with him/her? Against your will?
    See now, you could think that someone who is casting a love spell is merely doing it for “good” purposes but, forcing someone to love you against their will, interferes with their path in life. If they are not meant to be with you, then you can not force them. This I consider to be in the realm of “black or negative” magic. This is almost a form of rape.
    What I’m getting at is this, there is no line between white and black magick. So to try and classify either as good or bad, you really need to take a deeper look into what you are practicing. As I said, it’s all the same. It’s how you utilize it.
    So when I am asked by people who know little to nothing about witchcraft and if I practice black or white, the simple answer is “neither” . Magick in all forms is both good and bad. However using it responsibly is key. At times, we witches will undoubtedly use magick in all forms, negative and positive. This doesn’t make you a bad witch or even a good witch. You are a witch. Certain developments in life cause for certain spells and these spells may or may not be ethical. I’m sure you’ve experienced many times in your life where you had to lie to protect someone, or you had to pretend to be someone you weren’t to get a job or something that was important to you. Does that make you a bad person in general? No, it makes you human. We are all human witches. We fall victim to human life experiences, hard and good times. Just ask we are dynamic beings, so is magick.
    So don’t worry about if what you are practicing is “good” or “bad”. Just remember; Harm None, Do What Thou Will.  You’re on the right path.

    Septarian Nodule

    March 7th, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Lore |

    Septarian Nodule Stone, (a.k.a  Dragon Stone) started as sedimentary slime at the bottom of a Cretaceous Sea 50 to 70 million years ago when the Gulf of Mexico reached what is now Southern Utah.  Tide and waves rolled volcanic sediment composed of decomposing sea plants and sea animals creating a sort of “snow ball” of goopy gray mud.  Some time later, the seas receded and the balls were exposed to the hot sun and atmosphere and they dried, cracked and became hollow.  Later, sea level rose, and mineral-rich water deposited the brown aragonite and the yellow calcite crystals in the cracks and cavities in the mud.  Since the brown aragonite acts as a dividing wall (septum in Latin) between the gray mud and yellow calcite, the geodes are called “Septarians”. Septarian is derived from the Latin name, Septem, meaning seven, which relates to the fact that the mud balls crack with seven points in every direction.

    Septarian Nodule is used to assist in communication with others and to aid in being heard and understood. It also plays a role in rapid healing for the body and degeneration of teeth bones and muscles. Septarian Nodules help in banishing nightmares, negative energy and block psychic attacks. (i.e. psychic vampirism)
