    Welcome Autumn!

    September 29th, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Information |

Whew! Summer is finally over! I can get back to being more active! I trust everyone had a blessed Mabon? I am currently in the works of setting up times for Tarot readings. I will post that soon. I am a web designer during the day and lately we’ve been just slammed with work. Its ridiculous! Its slowing up here quite a bit and this will probably be the last week I have to take my work home with me *groan*.
I will also catch up on the Ask the Witch emails. I have been writing you back here and there when I’ve had time but there are a few of you whom I have not had a chance to reply to. Also please be aware, if I have not mailed you back, be sure and check the website, I may have posted your question! I will do that from time to time when I come across a question that I feel would be of benefit to some of you. As I said before, I don’t know everything about witchcraft,  (then again no one does) I’m only in my 30’s, but I can give you an honest answer, and an educated answer, and/or what I would do.

Samhain is fast approaching. If anyone is interested I will post my Samhain ritual for you to download. I will tips on how to dress your altar in the next few days when I dress mine.

Oh also I am not sure if any of you use Live Journal or not but there is this neat little community called Pimp my Altar and it has all sorts of cool altar layouts and ideas. Regardless of which Pagan path you follow. Some of the entries are memebers only, but if you are already a live journal user just add them up to your list.  You can check them out by going here –> Pimp My Altar

    middle of the summer update

    July 20th, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Updates |

As you know, I go pretty much dormant during the summer months. This is because I really do not handle heat very well. Its difficult for me to function and I really do suffer from “reverse” seasonal depression.

However, I have been cooking up (no pun) some new things I want to add to the website. First of all, a redesign is in order. I understand that people are having problems viewing in Firefox. This is because I dont use it.  Why don’t I use it? Because I design and update on a windows machine so I use IE. Firefox doesn’t like to play well with the way I like to design. Anyway, that aside I will work towards improving that. For now I’ve done a temp fix so at least its viewable, however, I’m not sure all of the site features are working.

Secondly, I will be doing live tarot and rune readings for people would like like to participate in that. Again, I don’t charge for this. I don’t believe in it. I feel that if I would start to charge for it, I would become uninterested and treat it like a job. I dont want to do that. This of course comes with stipulations. I will only be doing it once a week for a few hours at night. I will also only be doing a 3 card spread at first, and depending on time constraints, everyone will be alotted 15 minutes.  This will give plenty of time for me to give a 3 card reading and for you to ask any questions you may have. I want to stress this, it is very important, I AM NOT A PSYCHIC, I do not claim to be one. Tarot and Runes are a skill that I that I have learned and if you feel that your reading is inacurate, so be it. Cards say what they say. Keep in mind, everything that you hear should be taken lightly. Its all for fun. If you like, you can talk to me about anything witchcraft related instead if you are not interested in a reading, I love to share what I’ve learned with others.

If you live in another country and are unable to be present during the times I will be doing readings, email me a time when you are available and I will juggle things around a bit to help you out. This is only for people who do not live in North America. As much as I’d love to hang out all day on live chat and give readings to you guys, it isn’t feasable until I become independently wealthy. :)  I will be sure and post the time at least 4 days in advance so you know when I will be available. I will be using skype and we can either chat over text or over webcam, your choice. The reason I dont do appointments is because I really do not want to be chained to my laptop every night. I hope you can understand that. We all have lives and things we want to do. If that were to happen, I’d have to charge, and like i said, I really dont want to do that. I want you all to have fun free readings. :)

Lastly I will be incoporating more Voodoo and Santaria information into the website. There are quite a few witches out there that are in need of more information about these 2 subjects. Unfortunately, I have not found anyone who wants to discuss gypsy magick or chaos magick to me. Let alone teach me but, this is an area I hope to go into in the future.

Ok, I’m out, until fall. Enjoy the rest of your summer and Bessed Be!!

    Besom, Broom, what?

    June 29th, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Information |

Besom, broom, wand , athame… when seeing these items for sale or mentioned on the internet Non Wiccans can easily misunderstand their purpose, but they are not the only ones. Practitioner’s that are new to paganism sometimes find themselves overwhelmed by the variety of ritual tools available to them and the uses and correspondences related to them.

What is more symbolic of witchcraft than a broom? A besom of course! While two names for the same object may seem only designed to confuse there is actually a commonly accepted small difference in definition for the two words~ besoms are usually made of twigs and are rounded, whereas a broom is flat and made of primarily straw. Does it actually matter which one you use? Not much, either will serve the same purpose, but owning a traditional witches besom may aid you in creating a sense of magickal awareness. The besom is used traditionally to clear negative energies from ritual space by sweeping. Often it is considered a masculine tool due to it’s shape being similar to that of a phallus, but in a traditional besom made of ash handle and and birch twigs would represent both male and female elements.

Sacred Kyphi Incense - Ancient Egyptian Recipe

    April 21st, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Lore |

    Kyphi Incense

This recipe was reconstructed from ancient Egyptian papyri. Although an ingredient or two may not have translated correctly, this should be pretty close to the actual incense used in Egyptian temples.

    Ingredients:

    3/4 Parts Honey

    3 Parts Raisins

    1/4 Part Copal

    1/4 Part Myrrh

    1/4 Part Orris

    1 Part Sandalwood

    1/4 Part Storax

    1/2 Part Frankincense

    1/2 Part Cinnamon

Red Wine (enough to moisten mixture)

Benzoin (enough to roll balls in)

Thoroughly grind all ingredients separately, then mix together groups of ingredients by nature: resinous together, powdery together, etc. Finally, mix all batches together, add red wine to moisten, then roll into 5/8″ balls and roll balls in benison. Lay out on waxed paper for a week or so, until firm.

The balls can be used when firm, but for best results, they should be allowed to cure a few weeks. Kyphi I’ve had for two years is better than ever.

    Phenacite

    April 5th, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Lore |

Phenacite (phenakite) is a rare beryllium mineral. These rare crystals can be primarly be found in various areas of Madagascar, Burma, and Zimbabwe. However, they have also been found in Russia and the Colorado mountains in North America. These slender, prismatic column-like crystals can range in color from very clear (colorless) to yellows, browns and even sometimes pink.

It is thought that the diffrent areas in which the Phenacite is harvested will carry diffrent vibrational levels. The Phenacite has the HIGHEST vibration of any crystal ever found. It works on the upper Chakras such as the crown and third eye Chakra. Phenacite is also known as the gateway crystal used to help open the door to alternate dimentions and to aid in contact with higher spiritual realm. This stone is particularly important for light workers.

Because Phenacite is a beryllium mineral, caution must be used if you are planning to chip or crush the mineral. Beryllium in dust form is a toxic element that is used as a hardening agent in alloys. The dust has been known to cause lung damage and pneumonia.

Want a quick fun trip? Hold a small amount of Phenacite in your right hand and close your eyes. (make sure you are seated or lying down first) The current is amazing.

    Witch not Wiccan

    March 22nd, 2009 | → Leave Comment Filed under Information |

There is alot of confusion in the general public with those who are either new or unfamiliar with witchcraft or wicca. Would you believe the majorty of the public believe this is the same thing? I can’t tell you how often I get asked “Are you Wiccan?” to where I simply say “No, I’m a Witch” and wait for the dumbfounded look.  The simple break down is this. Witchcraft is a way of life, when you are a witch, you practice witchcraft, it is your “craft”. When you belong to a religious movement that typically follow a god/goddess, this is Wicca.

    Witchcraft = Craft

    Wicca = Religion

Lets go further. Do you know where the term “Witchcraft” came from? Back in the days of masonry believe it or not, you had a craft. You were a mason, builder, carpenter, healer, apothocary, shaman etc etc, when someone would ask you “Which Craft are you?” You would of course be one of the fore mentioned. Over time when freemasonry came about, and they became a secret society, this lead to alot of people believing they were witches, or malevolent people. Because of course, if you are practicing something in private that no one understands, it obviously evil and malevolent in nature. Mason = Craft - somewhere along the line - Witchcraft. However, thats a whole other tangent for another time.
So are all Wiccans, Witches? Again, no not all, however most are. Most Wiccans do practice the craft, however there are some who are content with god/goddess worship with no desire for spellcrafting or tinkering with energies.
